Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
In short: The PDF Buddy uses a few essential cookies and local storage to remember your preferences, Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, and Google AdSense to show ads that keep the tools free. Cookies never read or store the files you process, and you can block or delete them at any time in your browser.
What We Use
The PDF Buddy uses a small number of essential cookies, local storage, analytics, and advertising technologies to remember preferences, measure site performance, and support free access to the tools. We do not use cookies to read, upload, or store the contents of any file you process on the site.
Essential cookies and local storage
These remember your dark mode preference and basic session state so the site behaves consistently between visits. Blocking them will not stop the tools from working, but preferences may reset each visit.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand which tools and pages are used most and where visitors run into problems. Analytics cookies collect aggregated, non-identifying usage data such as page views and approximate session length.
Advertising cookies
We use Google AdSense to keep the tools free. Advertising cookies may be set by Google and its partners to show relevant ads and measure ad performance; they can also be used to limit how often you see the same ad.
How Long Cookies Last
Session cookies are removed when you close your browser. Persistent cookies set by analytics and advertising partners typically last from a few days up to two years, depending on the provider, and are refreshed on repeat visits.
Your Choices
You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings, or use your browser's "do not track" or ad-personalization controls where available. Some preferences, such as dark mode or consent choices, may reset if local storage is cleared.
Cookies and Your Files
Most PDF Buddy tools, including the image resizers and many PDF tools, process files directly in your browser. Cookies and local storage are separate from that processing: they hold small pieces of text such as a theme preference or an analytics identifier, never the contents of a PDF, photo or signature. Where a tool needs server processing, it shows an upload notice, and our Privacy Policy explains how such files are handled.
Third-Party Cookies
Google Analytics and Google AdSense are provided by Google, which sets and reads its own cookies under its own policies. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com. Google also offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.
Managing Cookies in Common Browsers
Menu names change between versions, but these paths are a good starting point:
- Chrome (desktop and Android): Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies or Delete browsing data.
- Safari (iPhone and Mac): Safari settings, then Privacy or Advanced, where you can block cookies and remove website data.
- Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions.
Clearing cookies does not affect the tools themselves, but it will reset saved preferences such as dark mode.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when we add or remove analytics or advertising services or when the law requires it. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed. Questions about cookies can be sent through our contact page.
Cookie FAQ
Do cookies let you see my files?
No. Cookies do not read, upload or store the files you process. Most tools work in your browser, and cookie data relates only to site usage, preferences and advertising.
Will the tools still work if I block cookies?
Yes. Blocking cookies does not stop the tools from working, although saved preferences such as dark mode may reset between visits.
How do I opt out of personalized ads?
You can turn off ad personalization in your Google account's ad settings and block third-party cookies in your browser. You may still see ads, but they will be less tailored to you.
How long do cookies stay on my device?
Session cookies are deleted when you close the browser. Persistent analytics and advertising cookies typically last from a few days up to two years, depending on the provider.
